Bienvenidos a la clase de español

Welcome back to school! I am so excited for the year to begin and I have so many great things planned for Spanish. Although usually my posts will be in Spanish, I wanted to make this post (in English) to welcome you all to the school year and introduce the use of this blog. This is an exciting new feature that I have added to my class for the year and I think it is going to be great. We will be utilizing this blog frequently in order to practice writing and interacting with one another in Spanish. Each week I will post a topic for conversation to this blog. Your job is to logon at some point during the week and respond to the topic that I have posted. There is no particular length that your comment must be, however please be sure that it FULLY answers the question/topic that has been posed. You will receive points each week for completing the task and for the quality of your response. You must post each week no later than 10 pm on Sunday. I will post a new topic of discussion each week by Monday afternoon. I will read your posts to make sure that you utilize correct grammar and vocabulary. While utilizing a blog, it is very important that you keep some general rules and guidelines in mind. Since this is a public forum that anyone can access, we must be safe and responsible in our use of it. The following are the rules for using this blog forum: BLOG USE RULES •Only use your first name or your Spanish name when making a post - NEVER post your last name on this blog •DO NOT post personal information about yourself on the blog - this site is open to anyone who wants to access it •Post original work only •Do not use online translators – try your best to say what you want using the language that you already know. I want to know what you know, not what google translate tells you. I will be able to tell if you use an online translator, trust me! •Weekly posts must be made by Sunday at 10 pm in order to receive full credit •Always check your grammar and spelling before completing your post •Be respectful of your classmate's comments and posts – do not post something negative or inappropriate on the blog. If you have to question whether something is appropriate or not, DON’T post it As long as we all follow these general guidelines, I think this can be a really great tool for improving our writing in Spanish. This blog will give you the opportunity to really practice your Spanish outside of the classroom. Also, be sure to check this blog periodically as I may post some opportunities to earn participation points as well as some limited time extra credit opportunities. There are also many great resources listed on this blog and more will be added all the time. Please explore this site and the resources listed - they will prove to be very helpful. Also, if you ever need some assistance clarifying a post that I have made in Spanish, feel free to utilize the translator gadget on the right side of the page. As we know, google translate isn't always the most accurate, but it should give you some idea of what I am asking you to do. As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to email me. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and is ready for a great year in Spanish. Until Next Time, Sra. Stolper
